Indirect procurement and strategic sourcing consultants work closely with other members of the HRC team, client personnel, and third-party suppliers to find and develop profit improvement opportunities. We’re looking for creative thinkers with the ability to synthesize both the art (qualitative inputs) and the science (quantitative inputs) of retail management.

Using business, strategic, and analytical skills, our procurement and sourcing consultants take a pragmatic and hands-on approach to:

  • Developing sourcing strategies
  • Analyzing financial models
  • Improving operational processes
  • Performing competitive analyses
  • Preparing content and presenting reports, analyses and presentations

Skills & experience

  • Develop and conduct strategic sourcing events (e.g. RFP, auction, direct negotiations)
  • Construct business cases and create meaningful presentations at all levels of an organization
  • Manage indirect procurement in several of the following fields: supply chain, marketing, corporate services, IT, building services, store operations.

In addition, experience with direct sourcing (private labels) and the implementation and optimization of strategic sourcing software would be a plus.

Essential qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, accounting/finance, management, engineering, economics, retail management, supply chain, or related field. Master’s degree or MBA a plus
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience within the consumer products, retail, or management consulting industries
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a demonstrated ability to interact with junior and senior team members, senior management, and other stakeholders
  • Expertise in financial modeling and analysis (particularly in Excel), understanding relevant elements of P&L and scenario analyses
  • Demonstrated experience in solving complex issues
  • Ability to direct and/or manage and analyze large volumes of financial and operational data

Title / Level: Manager and Principal levels

Merchandising/Merchandise Planning (MP&A)/Inventory Management consultants work closely with other members of the HRC team and client teams to develop systems for efficiently managing inventory. We’re looking for creative thinkers with the ability to synthesize both the art (qualitative inputs) and the science (quantitative inputs) of retail management.

Using their experience and skills, our MP&A consultants identify, communicate and deliver pragmatic and innovative solutions to address retail opportunities through improvements in organization, process, and MP&A tool utilization. This job involves:

  • Working across the entire product lifecycle from product development to more effective inventory management
  • Identifying opportunities for process and/or improved use of system capabilities
  • Effectively managing HRC colleagues, client and third-party staff
  • Providing effective communication and change management to help clients successfully realize sustainable benefits

  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in business or a retail-related field of study

  • Desire and ability to manage teams (internal and client side) and staff

  • Performing tasks such as financial modeling and analysis, inventory management, store labor planning and analysis
  • Managing large data sets and conducting analysis on a variety of Merchandising, Marketing, Inventory Management and Store Operations projects
  • Working with our experienced team of retail consultants to develop analyses and realistic insights to help enable the best performance improvement solutions for our clients
